Alcoota is a very remote and protected location but that doesn't mean you can't experience megafauna fossils first hand. MAGNT's Museum of Central Australia in Alice Springs has a beautiful display of megafauna fossils including reconstructions of the giant bird Dromornis stirtoni and two diprotodontoids. There are also fascinating displays of Central Australian fauna, minerals, meterorites and cosmology.

Take a virtual tour of the Museum of Central Australia.

See the mega reconstructions of the animals from Alcoota.
